All You Need to Know About Sainik school Kalikiri

First For those who don't know what Sainik schools are, Let me tell you about them in brief.

Sainik schools were initially conceived in 1961 by V. K. Krishna Menon, The then Defence Minister of India. Present there are 33 such Sainik schools. All Sainik schools can also be called Feeder institutes of NDA.

The primary aim of Sainik Schools is:

• To remove regional imbalance in the officer cadre of the Defence Services.
• To develop qualities of body, mind and character enabling the young boys of today to become good and useful citizens of tomorrow.
• To bring public school education within the reach of the common man.
• The other objective of Sainik Schools is to prepare boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy.

Every Sainik school prepare their cadets to the following examination:

1. Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
2. All India Secondary School Examination (Class X).
3. All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII).
4. Union Public Service Commission Examination for admission to National Defence Academy.

Now let us come to our topic of concern, Sainik school Kalikiri(SSKAL).

Sainik school kalikiri was established on 20 August 2014 with Motto Learn to Lead.

Two colours on The School flag, "Steel Grey" and "Maroon" are very much Significant. Where, Steel Grey Represents Grit and Determination And Maroon Represents Sacrifice, Strength,and Bravery.

As all other Sainik schools, SSKAL main aim is also to train cadets academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy.

The vision of SSKAL:

SSkalikiri envisions itself a world-class reputed organisation in school education committed to continually empowering masters to actualise inside out synergy in cadets and enable them to fulfil the futuristic need of the defence services in a way of preparing them for the task and promoter as a feeder institution to the defence academies.

The Mission of SSKAL:

To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of education and training. To initiate and promote well being among cadets to achieve exacting standards of discipline, moral and ethical values and for emphasising all-round development of cadets by making them self reliant, physically tough, mentally agile and emotionally poised.

Organisation chart of school: As in all other schools, Principal is the Head of the institution. The Principal is assisted with Vice Principal and Administrative Officer. Vice-Principal takes care of Academics part of the school. Administrative Officer takes care of the Administration of School.

Staff:

Obviously, A school's Development, cadet's efficiency, capabilities and all major things depend on the school staff. It could be either Teaching staff or Non-Teaching staff, School staff is the backbone of a school. In Sainik school kalikiri, Teachers are Very much Dedicated and Highly Qualified. They are 24/7 Available to the Cadets. Personally, I was able to clarify my doubts even at 11:00 pm. I feel, in civil schools nowhere one can find such dedicated and Helpful, Friendly Teachers. Here teachers are so much motivative. They motivate you a lot. a cadet can freely discuss their problems with teachers. One can rarely find such friendly Teachers. What more a student and student needs from a school? but in Sainik school kalikiri apart from this you can find many other things.

Sports, Educational Facilities:   Educational: School has spacious and well-Equipped classrooms. At the max in a class strength of the cadets is 35 - 40. All classes are SMART CLASSROOMS that encourages effective learning process. The school has a Language laboratory, Science Labs, Robotics Laboratory, and Mathematics Laboratory so that cadets can learn concepts Practically. (Labs). The school has a well-stocked Library and Reading Room with magazines and periodicals.  

Sports facilities: The school has a vast ground which has well laid out sporting facilities for all the field games including Basketball, Football, Hockey, Tennis, Volleyball, Lawn tennis. In addition, there is an Indoor stadium in which cadets can play sports like Badminton, Table tennis and all other sorts of indoor games. In SSKAL Equal importance is given to Both Academics and studies. we Believe in ALL - ROUND DEVELOPMENT.

Infrastructure Overview:

CADETS MESS: The School has a spacious Cadets Mess where all the cadets along with the Staff have their meals each day. All cadets offer a "GRACE", gratitude to the Almighty, before and after each meal in the mess.

DORMITORIES: The cadets are accommodated in dormitories with rooms which accommodates 09 each. Each cadet is provided with a bed and cupboard. The rooms are well ventilated with adequate lighting. The best thing is that if there is a power cut then immediately most probably within 10 sec in normal conditions generator will be turned on and your lights will turn on. A very good thing for all those Night readers.

AUDITORIUM: A spacious indoor Auditorium for the conduct of School Assembly, extracurricular activities and various cultural programmes is available at the School.

DISPENSARY: A well-equipped dispensary with six beds is available in the Campus to provide immediate and routine medical care to the cadets. Qualified medical personnel are available in the campus to attend to the cadets’ health at all times. Specialist medical attention is availed from medical practitioners available in Madanapalle / Tirupati.

NCC: NCC Training is an integral part of Sainik School curriculum. Hence it is mandatory for all cadets including day scholars to be in NCC. Cadets of class X appear for 'A' Certificate Examination in the month of February every year. Cadets of class XI appear B certificate examination in the month of February every year.  So, if a cadet joins in class 6 and passes out in class 12, He will be Having NCC A & B certificates in his hand.

House system: All cadets are divided into four houses. The major river names in Andhra Pradesh are given as house names. Each house is given a colour to distinguish from each other.

1. Godavari House - Maroon
2. Krishna House - Green
3. Penna - Blue
4. Tungabhadra - Yellow

Juniors are Guided by Seniors (Note that there is no ragging in Sainik school kalikiri).

Appointments: Cadets' discipline is looked after and Maintained by Appointments chosen among cadets by Teachers. Both at School level and House level. And the list of Appointments goes like this:

• School Sports Captain
• School Sports Vice-Captain
• School Band Major.
• School Band Captain.
• School Cultural Captain.
• School Cultural Vice-Captain.
• School Mess Captain.
• School Mess Vice-Captain.

House Appointments:

• House Captain.
• House Vice-Captain.
• House Quarter Master.
• House Prefect.

Admission: 

Now, after all this, The Question that arises is How to join Sainik school??

To join in any Sainik school India, A candidate must go through  A written Test conducted by Sainik School Society(AISSEE). Earlier there used to be an Interview and Medical Test after clearing the Exam. Now candidate, After clearing the entrance exam can directly attend Medical test. If Candidate clears the exam and Medical Test. A call letter will come to join the School. 

Main Misconception in society is that they consider Sainik schools as Army public schools I mean they think that only children of Armed personnel can only Join the Sainik schools. But it is not true. Anyone can appear for the exam and Can join the school.

The cadets are coming from different parts of the country. A Sainik school cadet who mingles with cadets from different parts of the country, 500 - 600 cadets grow in almost more than 100 Acres for 7 years, Now I will leave it to your imagination the level of Maturity that cadet will Have.
